Quick Bio:
Who is Krystina Madej, Phd?
An author, historian, educator, and communications strategist who looks at how humans adapt their narratives to changing technology - from today’s fast paced social media to yesterday’s cave art, and shape our thinking. Of special interest are Disney's stories across all media since the 1920s and children's narrative-based video games. Most recently she’s researched how representation of disability in children’s video games maps against child development for the book “Fragile Avatars: Representation of Disability in Video Games” released in November 2021. She’s recently retired from Georgia Tech after ten years of teaching about narrative. Her academic books include “Interactivity, Collaboration, and Authoring in Social Media,” “Physical Play and Children’s Digital Game,” and a second edition of “Disney Stories: Getting to Digital” with Newton Lee. She has also edited the collection of essays, “Engaging Imagination and Developing Creativity.” Previous to her academic career she was a communications and design strategist creating programs and exhibits for government, industry, business, and museums.
